This week we have Mending Monday coming up on 1/13 from 6-8 , with a focus on repair and mending of woolens and other things with holes. So bring a favorite sweater, comfy socks, or other cozy item in need of some attention and learn how to fix those darn moth holes and snags, or just stop by to say hi and check it out! Please arrive promptly to be sure you’ll have time to work on your repair.
Then we have Talk & Tinker Tuesday on 1/14 from 6-9, where we’re going to be looking at locksport and lockpicking, and making your own tools from reclaimed and found items. We’ll have plenty of tools to share, transparent locks and a 3d printed demonstration piece to help explain the concepts, and plenty of locks to try to open. No experience is necessary but if you have a bit of experience, we have more challenging locks to work on as well. And if you just want to come in and check out the space or work on a different project, that’s fine too.
We’re still working on getting things set up and organized in the space, including getting our CNC router set up in the inner room. We still have a bit of work to do to get it running and develop a training plan before we put it into full use, but it’s exciting to have it coming along. We do have lots of tools and equipment ready to use at a Talk & Tinker or other event, including a wide variety of hand tools, a sewing machine, a dremel and collection of bits and cutting wheels, glue guns, soldering irons, multimeter, bench power supply, and lots more. So if there’s something you’re looking to use or would like to learn how to use, just ask!
